Microsoft Fabric Implementation

Most Fabric implementations stall between pilot and production. We build to handover — architecture, migration, governance, and a team that can run it without us.

What we deliver on Fabric

As a certified Microsoft Solutions Partner, EdgeRed delivers Microsoft Fabric implementation across greenfield builds and migrations from Synapse, legacy SQL and on-premises systems — for organisations already running on Azure, Teams or Dynamics.

Greenfield Fabric builds

End-to-end platform delivery from scratch — medallion architecture, data ingestion, modelling, Power BI integration and CI/CD pipelines.

Migration to Fabric

Structured migration from Azure Synapse, legacy SQL or on-premises systems to Microsoft Fabric — phased to maintain BAU reporting throughout.

AI-ready data & Copilot enablement

OneLake architecture, semantic models and Azure OpenAI integration — so your data is positioned to power Fabric Copilot and agentic AI features as Microsoft builds them into the platform.

Power BI & self-serve analytics

Semantic models, row-level security, automated refresh and curated datasets — dashboards your business actually uses, built on a governed foundation.

Governance, compliance & security

DEV/TEST/PROD environments, Microsoft Purview integration, version control and deployment workflows — built to meet audit requirements from day one.

Handover & internal capability

Documentation, runbooks and structured knowledge transfer — so your team can independently manage and extend the platform after we leave.

Why Fabric, why now

One platform, not five

Fabric unifies data engineering, warehousing, real-time analytics, data science and BI in a single SaaS platform — reducing the number of tools, licences and integrations your team needs to manage.

Built for the Microsoft ecosystem

If your organisation runs on Azure, Teams, Power BI or Dynamics 365, Fabric integrates natively — no new identity management, no new security model, no new procurement process. We’ve delivered this across organisations in Australia — with no disruption to BAU.

Cost efficiency at scale

Fabric’s capacity-based pricing model can materially reduce compute costs compared to running separate tools for each workload — particularly for organisations already paying for Microsoft 365.

AI-ready by design

Fabric’s OneLake architecture and native integration with Azure OpenAI means your data is positioned to power AI and Copilot features as Microsoft continues to build them into the platform.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to already be on Azure to use Microsoft Fabric?

Not necessarily, but it helps. Fabric integrates natively with Azure, Microsoft 365, Teams and Dynamics — so organisations already in the Microsoft ecosystem get the most immediate value. We assess your current environment before recommending Fabric as the right fit.

How is Microsoft Fabric different from Azure Synapse?

Synapse was a collection of separate services that needed to be connected. Fabric unifies data engineering, warehousing, real-time analytics and BI in a single SaaS platform with one security model and one storage layer — OneLake. Microsoft is investing heavily in Fabric as the long-term platform; Synapse is effectively being superseded.

How long does a Microsoft Fabric implementation take?

A focused greenfield build can be production-ready in 8–12 weeks. Migrations from Synapse or legacy SQL depend on data volume, pipeline complexity and how much BAU reporting needs to be maintained throughout. We scope it properly before we start — no surprises mid-engagement.
