Welcome to the team — meet EdgeRed's 2026 new starters

Six new intimidating faces. Internships that turned into offers. Grad hires with double degrees. A principal who’s been in the trenches long enough to know exactly what most teams get wrong. It’s been a good start to the year.
We continue to grow, and this year EdgeRed welcomed a cohort that brings serious technical chops across data engineering, AI, and analytics. Here’s who just joined us.

Harsh Tiwari — Principal Data Engineer

Harsh comes to us from Woolworths, where he was Data & AI Engineering Manager. He’s seen enough data platforms at scale to have strong opinions — and the one he keeps coming back to is this: governance and security get treated as a late-stage problem, when they should be built in from day one. That’s the kind of thinking we need at principal level. He joined for the speed and the variety of the work (you’ve definitely come to the right place!). Outside of it, he’s entertaining a two-year-old, hunting for hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and has strong feelings about spicy food.

Junaid Dewan — Data Engineer

Junaid graduated from Western Sydney University with a degree in Computer Science, stayed on as an insights officer there before joining EdgeRed. He’s genuinely curious about how complex systems fit together — not just how to use them. He’s the kind of engineer who wants to understand why something works before he decides how to build it. He was drawn to EdgeRed for the scale of the projects and the chance to work across the full data stack. When he’s not working, he follows the NBA, F1, and cricket. A solid bloke!

The 2026 grads

Vanessa Nguyen

Vanessa isn’t a stranger — she did her internship with us in her penultimate semester and is back as a full-time hire. She studied Information Technology (Data Science) at Macquarie University and specialises in data analysis and modelling. She joined because of the team, full stop. After the internship she’d seen how we actually work, so the decision wasn’t abstract. Off the clock: badminton, cooking, movies, and keeping a close eye on what’s happening in data and AI.

Gabriel Schussler

Gabriel graduated from Western Sydney University with a Bachelor of Mathematics and came to us from a junior data engineering role at WSU. He loves a genuinely hard problem — not the kind you solve in ten minutes, but the kind that takes real sitting-with. His technical home is data engineering and programming, and he’s here to build a broader toolkit across different domains and technologies. Outside of work he boulders, lifts, runs, and reads — philosophy, politics, and fantasy, which is an excellent and slightly unhinged combination.

Karan Yadav

Karan did his Master of Business Analytics at Macquarie University and joined us first as an intern, where he built the AI News tool for EdgeRed. That project revealed something he hadn’t fully clocked before: he’s good at automating data processes, and he enjoys it. What made him stay? During the internship, EdgeRed gave him real ownership and let him contribute beyond his brief. He noticed that. He plays chess and football, explores new places, and tracks AI and data trends closely. The last one is basically a job requirement here, so he’s ahead already.

Tanya Pita de Abreu

Tanya holds a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) and a Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Data Science) from the University of Sydney — a combination that means she is very comfortable when the numbers don’t add up and very motivated to find out why. That instinct for spotting when something’s off is genuinely useful in data work, and it’s something you can’t really teach.
She joined because EdgeRed’s project variety makes it a good place to figure out where in the data world she actually wants to go. When she’s not working, she’s reading mystery novels and doing pottery or embroidery. The attention to detail clearly extends beyond the office.

The year ahead

Six sharp minds joining a team that doesn’t run out of interesting problems. We’re looking forward to what they build.
