Spotlighting Women Shaping the Future of AI: WAI Awards APAC
On July 25th 2025, EdgeRed attended the Women in AI (WAI) Awards in Sydney. The event celebrated women who are leading, innovating, and shaping the future of artificial intelligence (AI) across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, spotlighted the achievements of women in AI and brought together voices from research, industry, startups, and government.
About Women in AI (WAI)
Women in AI (WAI) is a global nonprofit “do-tank” that’s working towards inclusive AI that benefits all of society. Founded in Paris in 2016 by Dr. Hanan Salam, Caroline Lair, and Moojan Asghari, their mission is to empower women and minorities to become AI and data experts, leaders, and innovators — through education, research, events, and storytelling. At its core, WAI is about creating spaces where women own the stage, share ideas, and are seen.
About the Awards
The WAI Awards APAC are the most prestigious awards recognising women in AI in the Asia-Pacific region. Now in their fourth year, these awards honour women from all backgrounds who are taking bold steps in AI — pushing boundaries, leading with purpose, and paving the way for others.
Whether through research, product development, entrepreneurship, or policy, the women celebrated at the WAI Awards are helping shape the future of AI in ways that are ethical, inclusive, and visionary.
