Over the past few weeks, we’ve introduced the incredible leaders joining us at the CyberCX Lounge at SXSW Sydney – Dr Stephen Barnett and Jade Clarke.
Now, it’s time to complete the lineup with our third and final panelist, Anurag Verma, alongside our host, Monica Ly, Co-Founder of EdgeRed.
Meet Anurag
Anurag is the CCO of Omnia Collective and an AI lead in their AI practice, focusing on consumer, retail and travel industries. He is an ex tech startup founder, PE and M&A lawyer, and a former senior executive at WooliesX. Prior to joining Omnia, Anurag founded his own AI products and services business, helping organisations leverage AI tools to drive tangible ROI in a risk and governance first approach.
He is also a NED on a consumer tech business, an Advisory Board member to a retail AI company, and serves as an AI Advisory partner to a Private Equity consultancy and a venture partner to a VC fund.
He holds a LLB (Hons) / BCom (Distinction) from UNSW, and a Masters in Law and Finance from the University of Oxford.
About Monica
Monica has spent her career at the intersection of data, strategy, and AI, helping some of Australia’s largest organisations harness technology to solve complex problems. As co-founder of EdgeRed, she has grown the company from a two-person startup in 2018 to a 50+ person consultancy that has delivered over 200 AI and data projects for some of Australia’s biggest names.
But Monica’s approach goes beyond just implementing AI tools. She understands that AI readiness starts with foundational data governance — the unglamorous but critical work of data platform migrations, governance frameworks, and building robust analytics capabilities that make AI actually work.
Her work spans industries, but the common thread is clear: turning AI from hype into practical outcomes that drive business value and build trust, with solid data foundations as the cornerstone.
