How CES is building Australia’s circular economy with data and AI
14 May 2025

With the recent rise in sustainability-conscious practices, some companies are truly leading the way with innovative, data-driven solutions. We recently sat down with James from Circular Economy Systems (CES) to discuss their collaboration with EdgeRed, and their mission to make the circular economy a practical reality, using data, AI, and smart system design.
About CES
Circular Economy Systems (CES) is an Australian company dedicated to solving the nation’s waste challenges by designing and operating Producer Responsibility Schemes, including large-scale Container Deposit Schemes (CDS). Since 2017, CES has helped power more than 11 billion container returns, working to create cleaner, more efficient recycling systems. Central to their approach is the use of data and artificial intelligence through leveraging cloud platforms and real-time analytics to optimise operations, reduce contamination, and scale the impact of circular economy initiatives across the country.
