Position Overview:

As a Graduate Data Engineer, you will work closely with our experienced data professionals to structure and create complex datasets and data pipelines, build the data that is the backbone of actionable insights, and support data quality enhancement across multiple clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop their skills and grow within a supportive and collaborative environment. It is also ideal experience for graduates who want to experience what data engineering has to offer in multiple industries.

Assist in the development and maintenance of datasets and data pipelines to transform and enhance data
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and provide engineering support.
Interact with clients, gather requirements, and build client relationships
Support the implementation of data-driven strategies and initiatives.
Continuously improve data quality and integrity by identifying and addressing data discrepancies and quality issues.
Automate manual processes with cutting edge technologies
Build and develop prototype analytics tools
Work with and assist with development on our proprietary EdgePreso software

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or another field with a significant quantitative component.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to code – any coding language is fine.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and a passion for data.
Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Developer, engineer, or IT consulting experience
Proficiency in standard data engineering languages and software (e.g., SQL, Python)
Familiarity with CI/CD tools eg; Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, Gitlab Ci, Github actions, etc.
Proficiency with commonly used tools like git and docker
Exposure to scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Powershell)
Experience with async programming
Cloud provider experience (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
Proficiency with backend web frameworks (Flask, Express, Django, FastAPI, ASP.NET, Spring, etc.)
Experience with Any Workflow orchestration tool (eg; Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, Temporal)
Data modelling (eg; Kimballs, normalization, data vault)
